RIP Senator Kennedy, Gay Rights Ally & Supportor

"It's not about how to protect the sanctity of marriage, or how to deal with activist judges. It's about politics and an attempt to drive a wedge between one group of citizens and the rest of the country, solely for partisan advantage."

Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA)
passed away on Tuesday night after battling brain cancer. He was 77 years old. He was a strong ally to the LGBT community, including sponsoring the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).

He was also one of just 14 senators who voted against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996 that prohibits the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages.
